Dispositions and Powers are defined by their direct connection to behavior.

Derivaties are defined by their direct connection to dispositions or powers and have only indirect connections to behavior. The three Derivatives are:
  1. States.
The kind of changes that may be quick, non-persistent, and readily reversible.
  2. Capacities.
The power to acquire person characteristics.
  3. Embodiment.
The notion that people have bodily characteristics directly as people.
